Basavaraj S. Kalaveerappanavar has a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology as Major Subject) Graduation. He started his career as development professional during 2000. For the last six years, he worked in NGOs in Northern Karnataka, the Sandbox area. Specifically his work involved development of rural and peri-urban people with various projects on rural development, women empowerment, watershed development, education and forest conservation.
Basavaraj has worked extensively in rural Karnataka, based on the needs of the project the organizations he worked vary. He worked for TRDC organization as Education Coordinator to implement Education of Child Labor Project at Savanoor Taluk. He was in NEEDS organization, Ranebennur as Community Organizer to implement “Joint Forest Planning and Management” (JFPM) at Shiggaon Taluk; He was also in Navachethana Foundation, Haveri as Field Guide to implement a famous World Bank assisted integrated watershed management project of Government of Karnataka, namely, “SUJALA” - Phase III sub-watershed at Byadagi Taluk.
